Our trip to California in late July through and early August was wonderful. Sarah started sleeping through the night so although I was still sleep deprived, I could enjoy myself too. And the bonus, after traveling with two kids, being at home with them didn't seem so hard. Enjoy the pictures!

Sarah's first plane trip. Thankfully we had Grandma to help us out!

Uncle Erik meets Sarah for the first time.

Uncle Erik loves his two girls!

Kate playing with Sarah - she is such a great big sister!

Grandma enjoyed the weekend with two of her boys and their families. She and Kate especially enjoyed walks at the beach nearby.

Imperial Beach Pier - Sarah sleeping and Kate enjoying every minute!

Maybe she enjoyed every minute a bit too much - she fell asleep eating dinner after our first full day in California.

Then we went to stay with Tami & Kristine Rumbaugh at Tami's parent's home in La Jolla. It's a rough life to stay in a beautiful house, overlooking the ocean with a gigantic backyard complete with partially covered patio and jacuzzi (we dubbed it the small pool).

Kristine and Kate had a great time playing dress-up. You'll see a few more pictures of this in our stay.

We visited my favorite store (I'd only seen the catalog before this) - Title 9 - It's no wonder Tami and I love this place - see the motto on the wall - "Sometimes sweat is the best form of therapy."

Out for a walk in La Jolla. We used a pushing tricycle as our second stroller.

Ready for the next outing!

My longtime friend Suzanne Smith came down from Orange County to see us and meet Sarah.

Daddy could come by after work to see his girls!

Daddy and Sarah! Love the uniform!

After our stay with Tami & Kristine we went to Chad & Michelle Van Someren's. Kate and Daddy had fun in the pool.

Kate loved it!

Riding on Daddy's back!

Michelle even babysat and gave us a date night. What awesome friends!

Then we were off to Mammoth for a long weekend. Here was one of our first hikes. The boys were off mountain biking so here I am with the girls.

Beautiful Mammoth Lakes with Kate and Sarah

Yes, I carried them both at times to go hiking! They were short hikes!

Sarah sound asleep

We were up in Mammoth with the Rumbaugh's, Hendrickson's, and Swenson's (as in Aaron's brother's family) - Every family had a birthday we were celebrating! Such fun with great friends and family! - The girls loved playing more dress up!

Here's another gorgeous spot in the Sierra - Swenson family photo op

Kate loved fly fishing on Daddy's back

It's even more fun IN the river.

We had smores in our cabin using the fireplace as our campfire. This has become a favorite at home now too!

On our way back to San Diego we stopped off at Onion Valley to do a little hike up Kearsarge Pass which is over 11,000 feet. It was a little further than we remembered (having hiked it years ago on our Pacific Crest Trail hikes twice) but we were so happy to be hiking in the Sierra with our girls. Aaron carried them both and I had the day pack with food and clothes.

Go Daddy with both girls hiking UP UP UP!

Kate did walk some and wanted to get down for the last leg to the top.

That's our girl!

Our other girl! Nothing like a bottle at 11,760 feet!

Family Photo! The family has grown since our last hike in these parts!

One more with the sign.

Kate loved scrambling on the rocks up top! She's a mountain goat!

So fun!
