At the end of the week we were off to Eastern Canada for a much anticipated trip to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
We stayed at the most fabulous house right on the water in Cape Breton Island. We had the run of the house, a pond and right on the ocean with a canoe to enjoy paddling around. There was a fire pit where we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. We saw a bald eage near the pond (sorry, we didn't have the camera) and enjoyed relaxing in this beautiful setting. Here are Kate and Daddy getting ready to enjoy a quick canoe trip. My favorite quote from Kate, "I've been looking forward to this trip for a long time and now the fun is about to begin." Mind you, this trooper had just done a 15 hour drive the day before. Yes, we know we are crazy!
Grandpa Hansen and Sadie sitting on the dock enjoying the view.
You can't see it too well but that is a family of geese with babies in between the parents. Adorable and right in front of our rented house.
Kate and Daddy enjoying the drive around the island and a much needed stop at the beach to expore.
We went to the Fortress at Louisburg one day even though the full reenactment was not up and running for the summer. Here's Kate on a cannon.
Aaron was still busy training for cycling and the Killington Stage race that he did Memorial Day weekend right before flying to California. In the background is a very cool one car ferry across the channel. We went and rode on it for the fun of it while Daddy continued on his bike ride on the other side.
Now we are at Prince Edward Island and doing many of the Anne of Green Gables sites. Here are Kate and Daddy in a carriage in the barn.
Kate was adorable at the home, Green Gables. She had written a bunch of letters on the paper and was doing a guided tour for us of all that we were seeing.

Kate and Sarah looking cute.
We have no pictures of it but Aaron did the Killington 3 day Stage Bike Race Memorial Day weekend. On the third day he was involved in a crash five miles from the end of the race. A rider took down twoDartmouth medical students, Aaron and his friend Brian. He was bleeding profusely and Aaron and Brian performed emergency medicine on the spot while waiting for a helicopter to airlift the rider to Dartmouth. This all happened as Tina and the girls were going to pick Aaron up to drive to Boston to fly to California. On airplane trip to California, we had quite the flight. We flew through Chicago and had a long layover so Kate got to meet the pilots of the airplane and sit up in the cockpit. That's something that you don't get to do anymore. Also, Aaron got to be the only "medical professional" on board when they called for one and helped with someone that needed care. Two patients in one day and he hadn't even graduated yet! What a day!

May 2010
May 2010 was busy as we sold our beloved New Hampshire home, bought our new California home, Sarah turned one year old, we went on vacation to Eastern Canada with the Hansen Grandparents and Aaron did a 3 day stage bike race near Killington, VT ending on the day we flew to California. Enjoy the pictures.
Kate making Sadie wear a party hat. I'm not entirely sure what we were celebrating but we had fun.
Kate and Daddy making s'mores in our fireplace. We'll miss that!
Sarah making friends with Gracie Bowen in our front lawn.
Kate and Sadie with the Bowen boys, Jaegar and Hunter drawing with sidewalk chalk on our front walk.
We took a day trip to Lake Winnipesaukee and the Lakes District of New Hampshire because we didn't want to leave New Hampshire without ever seeing it. It was beautiful and Kate was determined to swim...or wade...maybe just ride on Daddy's back.

Kate loves running through the sprinkler in our large front lawn.
A quick pose for the camera by her flowers.
Ready to run!
Kate and Sarah have matching Big Sis and Little Sis PJ's thanks to Grandma.
We took A LOT of pictures of our home before we sold it. Here are just a few.
Kate's favorite tree in the front yard.
Mama's favorite liliac bushes with Kate enjoying the smell, it is amazing in May. Funny, that's the month we fell in love with the home and put our offer in on it four years ago. My how time flies.
Our girls in front of our home.
We moved into our wonderfully generous neighbor's house while we were in and out of town after selling our home before graduation. The girls were posing before bedtime.
Kate loved her preschool. Here's her class picture. She misses her friends a lot now that we are in California.
Sarah's first birthday fell on the day after selling our home and on Kate's final preschool party. As a result, we celebrated with all of Kate's preschool and sang happy birthday to her.
She's trying to figure out why she is the center of attention.
